Santa Clarita Valley & Castaic Jail Notary
NCCF — the North County Correctional Facility — is the largest of the four jails inside the Pitchess Detention Center complex (still called Wayside by many longtime LA residents) in Castaic. When someone at NCCF needs documents notarized, we travel to the Castaic complex for Powers of Attorney, real estate paperwork, court documents, and other legal forms in the professional visiting area. Most of our NCCF clients come from the surrounding Santa Clarita Valley — Valencia, Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country, Stevenson Ranch, and Castaic itself.
We are an independent mobile notary service — not affiliated with North County Correctional Facility (NCCF). We coordinate professional visits through the facility’s established procedures to reach inmates in the professional visiting area. Call or text (213) 933‑2507 and let us know the inmate’s name, booking number, and what needs to be signed.
About NCCF Castaic
North County Correctional Facility (NCCF) is a medium-security jail inside the Pitchess Detention Center complex in Castaic, roughly 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. NCCF is the largest of the four Pitchess/Wayside facilities — with roughly 4,000 beds across five housing pods — and holds most of the medium-security general population. The other three units on the same 2,620-acre campus are the North Facility, the South Facility, and the East Facility. Families and attorneys call us when inmates at NCCF need notarized signatures on time-sensitive documents.
Pitchess or Wayside? The whole Castaic campus is officially the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, but many longtime LA families still call it Wayside. For the full history and a breakdown of all four facilities, see our Pitchess Detention Center hub page. This page covers NCCF specifically.

How it works
Share the inmate’s full legal name, booking number if available, and what documents need to be notarized. If documents are not yet prepared, mention that — we can advise on what to prepare before the visit.
Located at 29340 The Old Road in Castaic, NCCF is part of the larger Pitchess Detention Center complex. Visitors park at the Dr. Elmer T. Jafee lot and take a shuttle bus to the facility entrance. We check in at the professional visiting area and coordinate with NCCF staff for inmate access. Travel from Granada Hills is typically 35–45 minutes via I-5 North.
We check in with facility staff, clear security, and meet the inmate in the professional visiting area. We verify identity, review the documents, and complete the notarization. Most visits take 30–60 minutes depending on security procedures and document volume.

Before your appointment
Under California Civil Code § 1185(b)(3)(D), sheriff-issued inmate identification is acceptable ID for a signer in a local detention facility. At NCCF that is the LASD booking wristband the inmate wears — matched to the sheriff’s booking record — so you do not need to bring the inmate’s wallet, driver’s license, or passport. Just give us the inmate’s full legal name and booking number when you call. If the wristband is missing or unreadable, California law also allows identification by credible identifying witnesses under Civil Code § 1185(b)(1)–(2).
Bring all pages of the document — not just the signature page. Documents should be fully prepared and ready to sign. Missing pages or incomplete forms will require a return visit. We can advise on preparation before we schedule.
We need the inmate’s full legal name and booking number to confirm their location within the facility. You can typically find the booking number through the county sheriff’s online inmate search or by calling the facility directly.
Mobile Notary FAQ — NCCF Castaic
NCCF (North County Correctional Facility) is one of four separate jails inside the Pitchess Detention Center complex in Castaic. Pitchess is the official name of the whole 2,620-acre campus, which opened in 1938 as the Wayside Honor Rancho — many longtime LA residents and bail bondsmen still call it Wayside. NCCF is the largest of the four Pitchess/Wayside facilities. If someone tells you an inmate is at “Pitchess” or “Wayside,” they may be at NCCF or at the North, South, or East Facility.
You can search the LA County Sheriff's Inmate Information Center online at app5.lasd.org/iic using the inmate's name and date of birth. The system will list the current facility, including North County if that is where they are housed.
In some situations, yes. If you have documents for inmates at both North County and another Pitchess unit, let us know. We can discuss whether it is practical to coordinate both visits on the same trip, subject to facility schedules and approval.
NCCF is a medium-security jail with its own visiting rules and procedures for professional visits. Because it houses the general medium-security population inside the Pitchess complex, procedures can differ from the minimum-security North and South facilities on the same campus. We confirm current requirements with the facility before every appointment.
Because of security and travel time, we recommend contacting us at least a few days in advance when possible. For urgent matters, call or text as soon as you know you need the appointment and we will review available options.
No personal photo ID is required. Under California Civil Code § 1185(b)(3)(D), sheriff-issued inmate identification is acceptable ID for a signer in a local detention facility, and at NCCF that is the LASD booking wristband matched to the sheriff’s booking record. All we need from you is the inmate’s full legal name and booking number. If the wristband is missing or unreadable, California law allows identification by credible identifying witnesses.
Inmates can be transferred between Castaic and downtown facilities. We recommend confirming the inmate's location close to the appointment time. If they have been moved, we can usually reschedule for the new facility with an updated quote if travel distance changes.
The Pitchess (Wayside) complex
NCCF is one of four separate jails on the Castaic campus. If you were just told the inmate is at “Pitchess” or “Wayside,” they could be at any of these:
The Pitchess complex houses NCCF (this page), plus the North Facility, South Facility, and East Facility — each with slightly different procedures. Look up the current housing at the LA County Sheriff’s Inmate Information Center, or call us at (213) 933‑2507.
