Visiting hours are typically 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM weekdays (unit-specific hours may vary). Because this is within our Tier 1 service area, travel time from Granada Hills is typically 15–25 minutes.
Bedside signing & seal
We check in with the nursing staff, bring all equipment to the patient room, verify identity, and notarize the documents. Most visits take 20–45 minutes depending on the number of documents.

Valid photo ID
Every signer needs a current government-issued photo ID — California driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, or equivalent. If the patient's ID is at home, have a family member bring it before the appointment.

Northridge Hospital is the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in the San Fernando Valley. California law allows for signature by mark if the signer cannot write their full name, as long as witness requirements are met. We will discuss acceptable options with you before the visit.
Can I have documents notarized for a patient who does not speak English?
The signer must be able to communicate with the notary to confirm their identity and understanding of the document. If the patient speaks limited English, a trusted interpreter can help facilitate communication, though California notary law has specific requirements around interpreters.
What happens if the notarization takes longer than expected?
Hospital notarizations sometimes take longer due to interruptions from medical staff, the patient needing rest, or documents requiring additional review. Our hospital visit fee covers reasonable time at the bedside.
