About this county

What "Ventura County" means for your document

Ventura County sits directly west of Los Angeles County along the 101 corridor. From our Granada Hills base, the Conejo Valley and Simi Valley are reachable in under an hour in normal traffic. California Notary and Apostille rules don't change at the county line, but travel, parking, and which county office issues your underlying records do.

Same California rules, different drive

A California-commissioned Notary follows the same statute and journal rules in Thousand Oaks as in Los Angeles. What changes is travel time, the 23 / 101 corridor, and where we stage between appointments.

County-issued records come from Ventura

Ventura County birth, death, and marriage certificates are issued by the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder. For most apostille purposes, you need a certified copy with a wet-ink clerk signature before the California Secretary of State step.

How far we travel

We comfortably cover the box bounded by the 101 to the south, the 126 to the north, the LA County line to the east, and just past the 23 freeway to the west. That includes the Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Oak Park, Somis, Santa Rosa Valley, Piru, and Fillmore. Appointments further west — Camarillo, Oxnard, Ventura, Ojai — are case-by-case. Call or text first.

One commission, two counties

We're a single California-commissioned Notary serving Los Angeles County and Ventura County. For Los Angeles appointments, see our Los Angeles County hub.

Where in Ventura County

Areas of Ventura County we serve

Three sub-regions cover most of the county appointments we take. Pick the one closest to your address, or call if your area isn't listed.

Conejo Valley

Communities along the 101 freeway corridor and the south slope of the Santa Susana Mountains: Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village (Ventura side), Newbury Park, Oak Park, Lake Sherwood, and Hidden Valley. This is our most-requested Ventura County region, with a steady mix of home appointments, business signings, and tech-corridor offices.

We also cover Oak Park (just east of Thousand Oaks, bordering Agoura Hills), and the gated communities of Lake Sherwood and Hidden Valley south of Thousand Oaks. Call or text with your address and we'll confirm timing.

Simi Valley

Reached from Granada Hills via the 118 or 23 freeway. Includes Simi Valley proper and the Santa Susana Knolls on the east side. Mix of home signings, small businesses, and hospital coordination at Adventist Health Simi Valley.

Moorpark & East Ventura County

The Moorpark corridor and the 126 freeway running north toward the Santa Clara River valley: Moorpark, Somis, Santa Rosa Valley, Piru, and Fillmore. We don't have dedicated city pages here yet, but we do cover the area by appointment.

Moorpark

Incorporated city of ~36,000 directly between Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks along the 118. Home signings, small business notarizations, Moorpark College area, and Adventist Health Moorpark Clinic coordination.

Somis & Santa Rosa Valley

Small unincorporated communities just past the 23 freeway, north of Camarillo and west of Moorpark. Mostly residential and agricultural; we cover these by appointment.

Piru

Small unincorporated community on the 126 freeway, northeast of Fillmore. Lower volume than the Conejo Valley, so call or text first so we can confirm our next available window.

Fillmore

Incorporated city on the 126 freeway, the western edge of our regular service area. We do reach Fillmore, but it's the longest drive in this region — call or text ahead so we can give you accurate timing and a same-day vs. next-day answer.

Have a signing in Moorpark, Oak Park, Somis, Santa Rosa Valley, Piru, or Fillmore? Call or text with your address, document type, and timing.

County records & apostille

Ventura County vital records and Apostille

Many Apostille requests start with a Ventura County document — a birth certificate, a death certificate, or a marriage record. Here's how the pieces fit together so you don't order the wrong copy.

Birth, death, marriage

Ventura County issues certified copies through the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder in the city of Ventura. For Apostille purposes, you generally need a certified copy with a wet-ink signature from the county clerk — not a copy you notarize yourself.

Divorce decrees

Divorce judgments come from the Ventura County Superior Court, not the Clerk-Recorder. You'll typically need a certified court copy with a wet-ink clerk's signature before the California Secretary of State can apostille it.

State-level vital records

For births, deaths, or marriages issued outside Ventura County, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issues state-level certified copies that also work for Apostille — usually with longer processing times than county copies.

What we handle

Once you have the right certified copy, we coordinate the California Secretary of State Apostille step. For documents that aren't government-issued (powers of attorney, affidavits, corporate records, school records), we handle the Notary step first and then the Apostille.

Common questions

Ventura County Notary & Apostille FAQ

Quick answers to what most Ventura County callers ask. If your situation doesn't fit, a quick call or text is the fastest way to get a clear answer.

Do you travel into Ventura County for Notary and Apostille appointments?

Yes. We are based in Granada Hills and cover the area inside the 101 / 126 / Los Angeles County corridor, just past the 23 freeway. That includes the Conejo Valley (Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Lake Sherwood, Hidden Valley), Simi Valley, the Moorpark corridor (Moorpark, Somis, Santa Rosa Valley), and the 126 corridor (Piru, Fillmore). For appointments further west toward Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, or Ojai, please call so we can confirm timing and travel.

Is Calabasas in Ventura County?

No. Calabasas is in Los Angeles County, not Ventura County. It sits right at the LA / Ventura county line along the 101 freeway, which is why people often assume it's in Ventura. If you have a Calabasas appointment, see our Los Angeles County hub.

Can you visit Ventura County hospitals?

Yes. We coordinate bedside Notary visits at Ventura County hospitals when a patient needs to sign an advance healthcare directive, power of attorney, or other document. Hospital visits are scheduled by phone so we can confirm signer awareness, ID, and facility access first. See our hospital Notary services for typical scenarios.

Do you handle Ventura County apostilles?

Yes. For documents originally signed or notarized in California, we handle California Secretary of State Apostille processing regardless of which county the document is from. Ventura County vital records (birth, death, marriage) are issued by the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder and typically need to be ordered as certified copies before they can be apostilled.

Where do you travel from?

We are based in Granada Hills in the north San Fernando Valley. From there, Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village are a short drive on the 101, and Simi Valley is reachable through the 118 or 23 freeway. We quote the full appointment cost up front so travel time is never a surprise.

Need a Mobile Notary or Apostille in Ventura County?

A quick call or text with your city, document type, and timing is the fastest way to get an accurate quote and a confirmed appointment. We'll let you know up front whether your situation needs a special facility visit, a particular ID, or a certified copy from a county office.
